8th Grade Weekly Reflection

Describe an area in which you have made growth this week.  Include specific details with a comparison to past experiences/performances.

One area I grew in this week was in making publish worthy work. One example is the rabbit problem, I had many drafts of the rabbit problem in order to make my final draft neat and praiseworthy. Usually I just do one draft, especially in math, but I wanted to push myself this week!

Did you find a way to challenge yourself or push your thinking/learning this week?  Explain.

A way that I challenged myself in math and science this week was by working with others to solve problems. I am usually very independent and able to complete everything on my own, but this week I challenged myself by collaborating with others.

Did you consistently meet deadlines and manage your class time this week?

This week I met all my deadlines such as the parent input paper and sharing the Fibonacci sequence. I worked hard to finish my homework and turned all my work on time without rushing

Share something you learned this week.

Something I learned this week in Math/Science was the Golden Ration. A golden ratio is a line that is divided into two parts so that both the longer part and the smaller part when divided equals the whole length divided by the longer part. This ratio then can go on forever!

Is your work praise worthy and ready for a public audience? Explain.

My praise worth product is ready to be seen by people because it is neat, organized and I can explain it well. My work would be the pentagram in my notebook because I can talk about it and it makes sense to me.

Overall, how was your participation and contribution to group work this week? (this can be a small table group, and whole class group)  Explain.

Overall, I feel my participation in group work has excelled this week. I definitely feel I participated more in the socratic seminar by asking more questions and responding to other students’ questions. I also worked in my small groups and tried to stay on task as much as possible.

Proposed Grade:

5- Pushed myself beyond previous limits, met all deadlines, found additional challenges within my work load, excelled as a group member, my work is beautiful and publish worthy

4- Pushed myself to meet my previous limits, met all deadlines, excelled as a group member, my work is near publish worthy

3- Maintained my previous level of performance, met most deadlines, was a great team member, my work shows potential for future improvement and drafts

2- Did not perform at the same level as I had in previous weeks, met some deadlines, at times I was a great team member, my work shows great potential for future drafts

1- Performed far below normal level, missed almost all deadlines, rarely a strong team member, my work is far from a representation of my abilities

0- Work never completed and a constant disruption to group

Proposed Score: __________ (/5)

What is your goal for next week? How will you achieve this goal?

My goal is going to be to participate more in class. I tend to second guess myself a lot. That is why I want to try and raise my hand at least twice next week.
